5 Ways to Save Money on Your Next Sampling Project

Posted on January 24, 2017

CARO’s Valentine’s Day mitten cooler inserts are sent with love, and each bears a fun message about the pesky hidden fees charged by most commercial laboratories.  The following 5 items are taken into consideration in CARO’s all-inclusive pricing model; one of the many ways we have been showing our clients the love and saving them money for nearly 30 years!

1. Sample Disposal

All samples and unused sampling containers including jars and bottles must be disposed of by a professional, and these costs are often passed on to you.   For quality control reasons, there is no in-lab reuse of potentially contaminated sampling supplies, so unused containers are also disposed of without ever having seen a sample.  It’s sad, isn’t it?  Cheer up: CARO does not charge you for this!

2. Sample Hold Charges

A sample placed on hold means that it was submitted and logged-in by laboratory staff, but no analysis has been requested.  Laboratories will often charge for these samples to offset administration and supply costs… but not CARO!

3. Routine Sampling Prep

Magic Mittens - CARO Envirochain use

What makes our Cooler Surprise gloves magical? They have phone and tablet screen compatible tips so you can use them with Envirochain, our mobile e-submission portal. Contact your CARO project manager to get started with Envirochain today or to place a bottle order!

These costs can include drying and grinding of soil before metals analysis or digestion before total metals in water, among others! It is easy to forget to add these to your project cost estimate, so CARO automatically includes these in our standard costs.

4. Report Re-issuing

These are changes requested to a previous report or an already completed Certificate of Analysis (COA). Though it takes considerable time from multiple departments to pass Quality Control and re-authorize a report or COA, we believe this is all part of the great client service that we provide, with love and without charge.

5. Release of Preliminary Results, BEFORE the due date

CARO provides FREE, 24-hour access to your results via our online data management system: ClientConnect.  Upon your request, we will post preliminary results to your account FOR FREE as soon as they are available, so you don’t have to wait for the final report! Our ClientConnect system also provides tools for historical assessment, trend analysis and online COC submission. Did I mention it is FREE? (Sign up here: http://caro.ca/client-connect-sign/)

This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget that these little savings add up… so get out there in your new CARO mittens and pass on the LOVE ♥!
