BC Water Week 2018

Posted on May 6, 2018

At CARO we feel every week is water week as it is so important. That being said, this week is special as May 6-12 is BC Water Week, an event held by the British Columbia Water and Waste Association (BCWWA). The event raises awareness about water quality and helps educate everyone about the people and processes involved with getting clean water to our taps and returning it safely to the environment. Learning about our water is the first step towards protecting public health and we would like to be the essential partner for getting this message out there.

The mission of BC Water Week is to generate awareness about the importance of our local water quality. Many people don’t know about the potential contaminants in our water supply so this is a great opportunity to learn and get involved with the BCWWA. We strongly support this as it aligns perfectly with CARO’s vision: “Charismatic Scientists Driven to Make the World Safer and Healthier”. We’re proud to call ourselves BC Water Week’s big picture sidekick, and we encourage you to be to say the same thing and help us all protect our water resources!

THE BCWWA offers many children activities, these can be printed off for your home, school, or community. There are activities like a crossword puzzle and a colouring sheet that shows the journey of water from start to finish. Our team of charismatic scientists can colour inside of the lines, can you?

We’re with you every step of the way at CARO. It could be helping a client clean a contaminated site to meet health standards, providing water quality data to ensure Canadians have access to clean water, providing drinking water kits through our online store or supporting the government in testing fruits for potential pesticide exceedances; CARO provides the data essential to the success of these projects. Now, the BCWWA is allowing you to help every step of the way in the form of a pledge. Below are the links to the BCWWA’s charity page where you can make a pledge to Conserve, Protect, or Support our water.

Show your Support!

We’re all stewards for our water, for this generation and the next. Help show your support by making a donation to one of these three topics held by the British Columbia Water and Waste Association. One pledge will go a long way.

The Conserve Pledge – Drinking water conservations are critical during hot and dry summer months. It’s also important throughout the year because reducing our water consumption decreases the amount of water that needs to be treated.

The Protect Pledge – This pledge focuses on protecting our water resources and systems from damage and pollution.

The Support Pledge – Investing in water systems to protect our health, environment, and quality of life. This helps with upgrading aging pipes, pumps, and equipment to improve the water quality of the community.

Purchase A Testing Kit – Purchase a testing kit to test yours or someone you know water source to ensure that the water they are drinking is not contaminated by many of the possible sources of contamination that exist.
