Hello, and WELCOME to CARO’s online data retrieval and submission services help page. These systems have been designed to provide the environmental industry’s best companies (CARO’s Clients) with real-time access to their data, as well as a submission alternative to old school CoCs. Below are some resources to use the system to its fullest potential, alternatively you can contact us anytime and we will be happy to assist you.

CARO Client Connect Tips

  1. Disable any browser’s pop-up blocker to be able to have full access to the functionality of this site.
  2. Ability to see interim data and compare versus relevant regulations if specified on chain of custody at time of sample submission.
  3. Ability to trend sample sites if the sample is named the same in a project.

Q: Do I need to install any software to use EnviroChain?
A: No. EnviroChain is a web application, with no software installation required. A mobile application for sample generators can be downloaded, so the service can be brought into the field with you!

Q: There are so many fields; how can this possibly save time?
A: The process is proven to be quicker than filling out a CoC by hand! Not all of Envirochain’s fields are mandatory; only those that are bolded are required for submission. Additional fields are provided in the event that you would like to use this system to track and report field data. Some features, including template for repeat work and the ability to copy samples, provide significant time saving advantages.

Q: Does a printed CoC copy still need to be put in the cooler?
A: No, although a marked-up copy of a preliminary CoC may be useful as a reference. All that is needed with the coolers during transport of the samples is some way to document the CoC identification number (ID#). The Submission key obtained after submission has completed can serve this purpose, and can be included on the custody seal.

Q: NO COC?! How will the lab know where the cooler(s) came from?
A: Once a user completes a chain of custody online, he/she is given a unique Submission Key. This can be written on the label outside of the cooler (Custody Seal) and/or applied to a note placed inside the cooler.

Q: Are electronic signatures valid?
A: Yes. Electronic signatures are considered valid in both provincial (BC) and federal (Canada) jurisdictions. More information is available via your province’s Electronic Transactions Act, and the Federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.

Q: What if I want to make changes?
A: Submissions are not considered complete until the samples arrive at the lab; they can easily be cancelled online. Once they have been received in the lab, the change order process will continue as usual.
